Job Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
teach undergraduate and graduate courses in epidemiology,
teach in face-to-face and distance formats,
advise MPH students and supervise/direct master's theses,
advise and mentor Ph.D. students in research
supervise doctoral dissertations,
build on externally funded research program,
publish in refereed journals,
collaborate in multidisciplinary research teams of specialists in public, population, and global health,
actively pursue external support for research from national, regional, and local sources such as the CDC,
National Institutes of Health, or similar agencies,
provide epidemiological support to other departmental faculty on their research endeavors,
serve as a resource for other NMSU departments and community partners,
contribute to the academic missions of the Department of Public Health Sciences and College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation,
serve on departmental, college, and university committees, and
provide leadership in professional organizations in their field of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Ph.D., Dr.PH, or ScD in Epidemiology at the time of appointment (doctorate in-hand)
Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g., journal article publications and conference presentations).
Significant experience with securing and managing federal grants.
Expertise in working with national and state-based datasets, such as NHANES, HCUP, ENSANUT, or other large datasets.
Expertise in quantitative analysis methodologies.
Experience working in the field of public health or medicine.
Epidemiology teaching experience at graduate and undergraduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with online teaching
Surveillance or research experience with the US-Mexico border population
Experience working with state health departments and community partners
Commitment to interdisciplinary research collaborations designed to promote health equity in diverse populations
