Assistant Professor

The School of Public Health of the University at Albany, State University of New York is recruiting for a full-time, ten month state funded, tenure track faculty position in epidemiology at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are particularly interested in candidates with research expertise in infectious disease epidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, maternal and child health, aging, environmental exposures, healthcare delivery, causal inference, and epidemiologic methods. Candidates with a strong interest in teaching and mentoring of both Masters and PhD degree-seeking graduate students, and ability to collaborate with research investigators in public health and/or medical fields of study, and public health practitioners at local and state health departments, are especially encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in candidates with experience and a commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality among a culturally diverse school community.

The School of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, and offers a rapidly growing B.S. in Public Health program, on-campus and online M.P.H. programs, and on-campus M.S., Dr.P.H. and Ph.D. degrees. It is a unique partnership between the University at Albany and the New York State Department of Health. The close affiliation with the Department of Health facilitates collaboration with Department of Health scientists, many of whom are on the faculty, and access to the state's population-based registries and surveillance systems for cancer, birth defects, infectious diseases, hospital discharges, and vital statistics. Faculty at the School of Public Health also have opportunities to engage with University at Albany centers, including the Center for Collaborative HIV Research in Practice and Policy, which supports work in preventing HIV, hepatitis, STIs, and other diseases impacting vulnerable populations.

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in epidemiology or another medical/doctoral degree with advanced training/experience in epidemiology methods. The candidate must be from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accredited organization.
