Under broad managerial direction, this position directly supports the programmatic and administrative activities for the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB). The incumbent will have a major role in providing recommendations to the CCEB Director related to the strategic development of the CCEB; these recommendations will directly impact the operational, educational, and financial direction of the Center. Specifically, the Associate Director for Center Operations will be responsible for overseeing activities related to the recruitment of and evaluating the performance of CCEB members (Senior and Associate Scholars); will review spending plans and program budgets to ensure that discretionary and operating funds associated with the CCEB are used appropriately and with maximum impact in alignment with the CCEB Director's priorities; and will provide guidance and advice to faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, and students for appropriate decision making and problem-solving. Other operational responsibilities include managing CCEB space, managing activities related to CCEB promotion and publicity, and planning special events. In close consultation with the Director of Fiscal and Administrative Operations, the Associate Director will provide input on the CCEB's budget development aimed at the growth of CCEB overall, involving both its research and educational programs.

In collaboration with the Director of Fiscal and Administrative Operations, the Associate Director for Center Operations will provide direct input regarding the allocation and effective use of Center resources, including discretionary funds and CCEB personnel. Primary areas of responsibility include: oversight of the Type I research centers associated with the CCEB; evaluation of the performance of CCEB Senior Scholars; administrative and operational oversight of the CCEB's research cores, including the Clinical Research Computing Unit (CRCU) and Biostatistics Analysis Center (BAC); and in collaboration with the Associate Director of Clinical Epidemiology Education, oversight of the various CCEB educational programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of management, business and/or academic experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; Master's degree preferred. Must possess strong management and leadership skills; strong strategic vision experience. Demonstrated project management and organization skills with the ability to think high level and execute on the details. Proven ability to exercise good judgment, take initiative, and make independent decisions; experience developing curricula, engaging students, and engaging faculty as part of graduate education a plus; experience in building and managing relationships with stakeholders, leading multidisciplinary teams, and developing organizational wide strategies. Ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels within the organizational from senior management to technicians; ability to move multiple projects forward at the same time while remaining on point with the CCEB mission; ability to work independently, constantly looking for new capabilities to grow the CCEB. Available during non-traditional work hours including evening/nights and weekends. Willing to travel. Must have a valid Driver's License.
