The UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at University of California, San Francisco is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Education faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (at the ranks of Assistant or Associate Professor).

The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for coordinating all clinical education experiences that involve student placements at clinical sites, cultivating relationships with current and potential clinical partners, teaching and mentoring students, collaborating with clinical instructors, and performing site visits. Additional responsibilities will include one day of clinical practice in our Outpatient Faculty Practice, teaching and advising in our UCSF/SFSU Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program, engaging in scholarly activities, and participation in institutional and professional service activities. The faculty member is also expected to participate in university governance, faculty meetings, departmental administrative meetings, quality assurance programs and continuing education.

At time of hire, applicants must hold a DPT degree, be a licensed physical therapist with a minimum of three years of full-time post-license clinical practice, and the applicant must have a license to practice physical therapy or be eligible for licensure in California. A minimum of two years of clinical practice must include experiences as a Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE) or Clinical instructor (CI) in physical therapy, and preferred two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a physical therapy education program. The applicant must have Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy as well as demonstrated experience in clinical practice, clinical education and teaching with evidence of scholarship. The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) is a department in the School of Medicine, and has 28 faculty members, 150 DPT graduate students, and volunteer faculty. In addition to the DPT program, the department has an Orthopedic residency, Acute Care residency, and a PhD program in Rehabilitation Science. The DPT program is a joint program with San Francisco State University. The DPTRS also operates three faculty practice clinics and a Health and Wellness Center.
